Privacy policy

PDF to Excel converter · Effective: 18 September 2026

In short: the PDFs you convert are read and turned into spreadsheets entirely in your own browser. They, the spreadsheets and any passwords you type are never sent to us or anyone else, and the converter saves nothing in your browser's storage. The site is funded by advertising, which may use cookies – see Advertising for how that works and how to opt out.

This policy explains what information is handled when you use the PDF to Excel converter at makeinbulk.com/pdf-to-excel (“the converter”, “we”, “us”). The site-wide privacy policy covers the rest of Make in Bulk. You can contact us at hello@makeinbulk.com.

1. Your PDFs and the files you create

When you add a PDF, it is read by JavaScript running in your browser, on your device. The tables are found, the preview is drawn and the Excel or CSV files are created locally, then saved by your browser. None of this content – the PDF, its text, the spreadsheet or the file names – is transmitted to our servers or to any third party, and we have no way to see it.

Your files are held in the page's memory only while it is open. They are gone when you remove them, close the tab or reload the page.

2. Passwords

If a PDF is password-protected, the password you type is passed to the PDF reader in your browser to open that file. It is not stored, not saved in your browser and not sent anywhere.

3. Nothing saved in your browser

The converter doesn't use cookies, local storage or any other browser storage. Your choices, such as the sheet layout or CSV, reset when you reload the page.

4. Components downloaded from public servers

Parts of the converter are open-source libraries that your browser downloads from jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net), a public content delivery network, when they are first needed:

  • PDF.js (pdfjs-dist 4.10.38): the PDF reader and its background worker, downloaded when you add your first PDF. While reading some PDFs it also downloads character maps (for Chinese, Japanese and Korean text) and standard font data from the same place.
  • ExcelJS (4.4.0): the Excel writer, downloaded after your first PDF is converted, or when you download a workbook.
  • JSZip (3.10.1): downloaded only when a download contains several files in a ZIP.

As with any web request, jsDelivr and its network providers receive your IP address and standard browser information when these files are downloaded. Our requests for the libraries don't send the address of the page you are on; requests made by the PDF reader send at most the site's domain name. No content from your files is ever included. The site's headings use the Plus Jakarta Sans typeface, which your browser downloads from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). Google receives your IP address and standard browser information with that request, as it would for any web font; nothing from the converter is included. See the Google Fonts privacy FAQ.

The sample PDFs (the bank statement, invoice and report) are downloaded from makeinbulk.com itself when you choose one. They contain invented data.

5. Server logs

Like almost every website, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may automatically record technical information about requests to the site, such as IP address, date and time, the page requested, referring page and browser type. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure and are kept only as long as needed for that purpose. We do not use analytics or tracking tools of our own.

6. Advertising and cookies

The site is free because it shows advertising. We use, or may use, Google AdSense to display ads. The converter itself does not set cookies, but when ads are shown, Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, to limit how often you see an ad, and to prevent fraud.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Google may also show non-personalised ads, which use cookies or similar technologies for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting and combating fraud and abuse.
  • Where other third-party vendors or ad networks serve ads through Google’s platform, they may also use cookies for these purposes.

To show ads, Google's ad code is loaded into the page, and like any script on a web page it runs in the same page as the converter. The converter never passes your files, their contents, their file names or your PDF passwords to that code or to Google. The ads themselves are shown in separate frames in the articles, away from the tool. The converter doesn't need the ads to work, so it keeps working if you use an ad blocker.

7. Your choices about ads

  • You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The converter keeps working if you do.
  • Where the law requires it – for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland – you will be asked for your consent before cookies are used for personalised advertising, and you can change your choice later through the privacy or consent link provided with that message.

8. Legal basis (EEA and UK visitors)

Because your PDFs never leave your device, we do not process their contents. Server logs are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure website. Personalised advertising cookies are used only with your consent where consent is required; non-personalised ads are shown on the basis of legitimate interest in funding the site. You have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you and to complain to your data protection authority; as we hold almost none, most requests will concern the advertising choices above.

9. Children

The site is a general-purpose office tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA and UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how the converter handles information – for example by adding a new component or advertising partner – we will update this page and the effective date above.
