Terms of use
Effective date: 17 September 2026
These terms apply to your use of Make in Bulk at https://makeinbulk.com/mail-merge/ (“the site”, “we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
1. The service
The site provides a free tool that combines a PDF template with data you supply to create personalised PDF documents, together with guides on using it. The tool runs in your web browser; your files are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us. The privacy policy explains this in detail. There is no charge and no account.
2. Your content and responsibilities
- You are responsible for the templates, data and fonts you use, and for the documents you create. You must have the right to use them, including any licence needed to embed a font in a PDF.
- If your data includes other people’s personal information, you are responsible for handling it lawfully, for example under data-protection law that applies to you or your organisation.
- Check the output before you rely on it, print it or send it. Automated merges faithfully copy whatever is in the spreadsheet, including mistakes.
- The documents you create belong to you (or to whoever owns the underlying template and data). We claim no rights over them.
3. Acceptable use
You must not use the site to create forged, counterfeit or deceptive documents, such as fake qualifications, certificates or official forms presented as genuine, or documents that impersonate a person or organisation, or for any unlawful purpose. You must not attempt to disrupt the site, overload it with automated requests, or interfere with its advertising in a way that breaches the advertising provider’s policies (for example by generating artificial ad clicks).
4. Advertising
The site is funded by adverts provided by Google AdSense. Adverts are provided by third parties, and we are not responsible for the content of adverts or of websites they link to. Please read the advertising section of the privacy policy for information about cookies.
5. Third-party software
The tool uses open-source libraries delivered by the jsDelivr CDN, each under its own licence: pdf-lib and @pdf-lib/fontkit (MIT), PDF.js (Apache License 2.0), SheetJS Community Edition (Apache License 2.0) and JSZip (MIT, dual-licensed with GPLv3). Those licences and their copyright notices apply to the respective libraries. See the about page for links.
6. No warranty
The site and tool are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t guarantee that the site will always be available, error-free, or compatible with every PDF, spreadsheet, font or browser.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profit, business or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or documents created with it. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to zero, except where the law does not allow liability to be limited or excluded (for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
8. Intellectual property
The site’s design, text, code written for the site and the built-in sample templates are owned by Make in Bulk or its licensors. You may use the built-in sample templates to create your own documents. Product names mentioned on the site, such as Adobe, PDF, Microsoft Excel, Word and Canva, are trademarks of their respective owners.
9. Changes
We may change the site or these terms at any time. If we change the terms, we will update the effective date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
