Privacy policy
Effective date: 17 September 2026
This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Make in Bulk at https://makeinbulk.com/mail-merge/ (“the site”). If you have any questions, email hello@makeinbulk.com.
The short version
- The PDFs, spreadsheets and fonts you use with the tool are processed entirely in your web browser. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
- There are no user accounts and we do not run analytics or tracking scripts of our own.
- The tool saves your layout (not your data) in your browser’s local storage so a refresh doesn’t lose your work.
- The site shows adverts from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show and measure ads, including personalised ads where you allow it.
Files you use with the tool
When you add a template PDF, a spreadsheet or a font, your browser reads the file from your device into its own memory. The merging, previewing and PDF creation all happen there, using JavaScript that runs on your device. The finished PDF or ZIP file is created in your browser and saved to your device when you download it. When you close or reload the tab, the files are gone from memory.
The site is a collection of static files. It has no server-side program that receives, stores or processes your documents, so we never see their contents.
To do this work, the page downloads open-source code libraries (pdf-lib, fontkit, PDF.js, SheetJS and JSZip) from the jsDelivr content delivery network at cdn.jsdelivr.net, usually only when a feature first needs them. These requests fetch program code; they do not include your files or data. Like any web request, they reveal your IP address and browser details to jsDelivr. See the jsDelivr privacy policy.
Information stored on your device
The tool uses your browser’s local storage, which stays on your device, to remember the layout for each page of the site. The saved layout contains:
- the position, size, font, colour and alignment of each text box, and the text you typed into it (for example
Dear {{First Name}},); - which column or text you chose for each form field, and your output settings such as the file-name pattern;
- the template’s file name and page count, and whether you were using the built-in sample.
It does not contain your PDF, your spreadsheet rows, your fonts or the PDFs you generate. If you type personal information directly into a text box (rather than using a placeholder), that text is saved with the layout on your device. We cannot read your local storage. To delete it, use the “Start over” button in the tool or clear this site’s data in your browser’s settings.
Information collected when you visit
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like almost every web host, it may automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of the request, for security and to keep the service running. This is handled under Cloudflare’s own privacy policy.
- Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and keep it only as long as needed for that.
We do not use analytics tools, heatmaps or session recording. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first.
Advertising and cookies (Google AdSense)
The site uses Google AdSense to show adverts, which is how it stays free. Adverts are shown around the tool and the articles; your files and data are not sent to advertisers by us. Advertising scripts are provided by Google and governed by Google’s policies.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info (United States) or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
- For more about Google’s advertising cookies, see How Google uses cookies in advertising (policies.google.com/technologies/ads), and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for your consent before cookies are used for personalised advertising, and you can change your choice at any time. If you don’t consent, Google may still show non-personalised or limited ads, which use cookies or similar technologies only for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud prevention. Depending on where you live (for example in California and other US states), you may also have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising; the opt-out links above apply, or contact us.
Blocking or deleting cookies in your browser does not stop the tool from working.
Children
The site is a general-purpose office tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area and the UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Because your documents never reach us, we hold no personal information from them. For anything we might hold, such as an email you sent us, you can ask for a copy, a correction or deletion by emailing hello@makeinbulk.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. For information held by Google in connection with advertising, use the Google links above.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the effective date above.
